Hans J. Wegner designed the CH29P Sawbuck Chair in 1952. His inspiration was drawn from the sawbucks and saw horses used by carpenters and woodcutters – he added upholstered comfort to ensure a unique touch.
Danish furniture designer Hans J. Wegner (1914-2007) is considered one of the most creative, innovative, and prolific designers of all times, renowned for his precision, great insight into craftsmanship and uncompromising approach to design. Wegner designed nearly 500 chairs in his lifetime and was often referred to as the master of the chair.
The essence of lightness, comfort and style
The CH29P Sawbuck Chair, designed by Hans J. Wegner, has clean, simple lines and unique construction. The seat is significantly wider at the front, and - along with the very curved back –ingeniously enhances comfort in various sitting positions while providing a stylish expression. This elegant chair was taken out of production in the 1970s and relaunched 20 years later at the suggestion of Wegner’s family, becoming an immediate success thanks to its organic, comfort-driven design and unique aesthetic. The CH29P Sawbuck Chair is available in different colours and wood types with a comfortable seat upholstered in fabric or leather and complements a variety of interiors and styles.
