AN ELEGANT EMBRACE
The CH78 Lounge Chair by the legendary Danish furniture designer Hans J. Wegner was first introduced in 1954. Affectionately known as the Mama Bear Chair, it was an antidote to the often-heavy lounge chairs of the time; the chair’s elegant and expertly crafted silhouette is defined by a series of inviting curves that offer up a warm embrace.
To celebrate the coming of spring, Carl Hansen & Søn reintroduces the iconic design in sumptuous buttercream upholstery. Hallingdal 100 is a luxurious, soft white wool-blend fabric with rich texture and supreme durability. Set against shape-defining legs and armrests in solid FSC™-certified wood, (FSC C135991) it beautifully complements the supportive, sculptural curves of the chair and works in any space.
The CH78 Lounge Chair in Hallingdal 100 is available with white-oiled oak or oiled walnut wood. The corresponding CH53 Footstool offers additional comfort and functionality for an elegant pairing, while an optional neck pillow in Hallingdal 100 or sand-colored Thor 325 leather completes the design. Footstool and neck pillow are sold separately.

Hans J. Wegner anses for at være en af de mest kreative, innovative og produktive danske møbeldesignere. Wegner, også kendt som ”stolenes mester”, designede mere end 500 stole i løbet af sin karriere – heraf flere, der i dag har opnået status som mesterværker, heriblandt den ikoniske Y-stol, som har været i uafbrudt produktion siden 1950.
Han havde en særlig evne til at udtrykke essensen af et møbel gennem et enkelt og funktionelt ydre.
