The CH30 embodies the elegance of a chair made for a modern life. Now, Carl Hansen & Søn reintroduces the 65-year-old chair that perfectly visualizes the stringent and functional ideals of its designer: Hans J. Wegner.
65 years after it was created by Hans J. Wegner, the CH30 chair is now reintroduced by Carl Hansen & Søn. With its stringent design and refined craftsmanship, the chair embodies every aspect of modernity and meets the demands of the user of today; the balanced proportions and functional design makes it ideal in a modern context in both private homes and public spaces alike. Without armrests, the chair can be tucked under a table and will only take up limited space.
Hans J. Wegner is celebrated as the “master of the chair” and the Danish furniture designer worked tirelessly to materialize his vision for the perfect chair. The CH30 dining chair was first presented in 1954.
His signature organic forms and exceptional craftsmanship can be seen in a variety of details: The cruciform cover caps on the backrest and the tapered shape of the back are key to the oeuvre of Hans J. Wegner. The wide, form-pressed padded seat and the curved oval backrest secure comfort as the chair merges functionality with the iconic aesthetic of the Danish Modern design movement.
Carl Hansen & Søn has recreated the CH30 chair in close collaboration with Hans J. Wegner’s Design Studio according to his original working drawing—an extra two centimeters have been added in height to accommodate modern standards.
The CH30 chair is in stores from May 2019.
