A Timeless Classic in Elegant Leather

When Hans J. Wegner designed the CH24 Wishbone Chair in 1949, he couldn’t have possibly predicted the global phenomenon it would become. Drawing on an international design language inspired by antique Chinese furniture, Wegner created a new expression of Scandinavian design, demonstrating a deep respect for wood through his meticulous cabinetry skills. With a form uniquely its own, the Wishbone Chair has garnered a reputation as one of the most iconic pieces of Danish modern furniture. In over 70 years of production with Carl Hansen & Søn, not a single detail of the Wishbone Chair has changed; from its instantly recognisable Y-shaped back to its steam-bent top. Its simplistic shape and lightweight construction rely on a complex process of more than 100 steps. Crafted in Denmark from FSC-certified wood, fourteen individual parts are carefully assembled and hand-finished with the utmost care. As a designer, Wegner never stood still for long, constantly developing variations through his playful and innovative approach. During the 1990s, he turned his thoughts towards a new expression for the Wishbone Chair, exploring leather as an alternative to paper cord. As a respectful continuation of his original vision of lightness and comfort, the CH24 Wishbone Chair has been reimagined with a soft leather seat in four natural shades. Available in a curated selection of soft aniline and bluffed, protected leather, this classic design offers greater customisation for both private homes and public spaces.
