In 2022, we continued the tradition of celebrating the life and legacy of Hans J. Wegner with the CH24 Birthday Edition 2022. To mark the late Danish designer’s birthday on 2 April, the CH24 Wishbone Chair is offered in a limited-edition design crafted from an exclusive combination of oiled FSC™-certified teak (FSC C135991) and golden olive-tanned leather. Made to exacting standards using natural materials which patinate beautifully over time to create unique design masterpieces, the distinctive chair features a brass plate engraved with Wegner’s signature and date of birth. The CH24 Birthday Edition 2022 were available for purchase on 4 April 2022 only.
Offered for the occasion in oiled FSC™-certified teak and environmentally certified golden olive-tanned leather, the exclusive combination of natural materials ensures no two designs are alike. Both teak and leather patinate over time. Teak takes on a golden reddish-brown tone that beautifully contrasts the aniline leather seat, which is tanned with olive leaves to give unique color to each piece. During the 1950s and 1960s, Wegneroften worked with teak and the latest iteration of the CH24 is a contemporary nod to his rich legacy and the beauty of craftsmanship and natural materials.

Hans J. Wegner is considered one of the most creative, innovative and productive Danish furniture designers. Wegner, also known as the ‘Master of the Chair’, designed more than 500 chairs during his career – many of which are considered masterpieces. Wegner is probably best known for his iconic Wishbone Chair, which has been in continuous production since 1950.
At the heart of Wegner’s legacy is his unique ability to express the inner soul of furniture through a simple and functional exterior.
