In his quest for timeless and adaptive design that would meet the needs of modern life, yet be flexible enough to adapt to future changes, Børge Mogensen created the BM0865 Daybed. A timeless iteration of a classic daybed, the functional, durable furniture design was and remains simple enough to be understood by everyone and is elegant enough to be placed anywhere.
The BM0865 Day bed was first introduced to the world in 1958, as the embodiment of Mogensen’s ‘building furniture’ concept of individual furniture pieces to be ‘built upon’ over time. Now, meeting the changing needs of everyday living, Carl Hansen & Søn proudly reintroduces the piece to the modern world.
The deceptively simple design stands strong on its solid wood base. Handcrafted in Denmark, the restful daybed pays tribute to the heritage of the mighty oak tree: profiling elegant spigot joints, elongated legs and a sturdy FSC®-certified (FSC-C135991) oak frame with sumptuous padded upholstery, the simple yet considered design brings comfort and well-being into any space.
Børge Mogensen
1914 - 1972
Børge Mogensen’s creative process produced long-lasting pieces with humans at the center. He became a highly-influential, post-war designer and a leading representative of Danish Modern.
Mogensen’s democratic design included simple and functional wooden furniture for both private and public spaces, with calm aesthetics and strong construction from quality. He believed in visual clarity and minimal decoration or experimentation, as seen in his classic Hunting Table and Deck Chair Set.
