Hans J. Wegner designed the CH293 Sofa in 1962, softening his characteristic straightforward carpentry details with relaxed upholstery. The three-seater sofa consists of three carefully upholstered seat and back cushions supported in an expertly crafted FSC™-certified oak frame. Visible backrest slats, wide armrests and dynamic, angled back legs allude to the more familiar Wegner vernacular while soft upholstery offers a relaxed versatility for small living spaces.
Danish furniture designer Hans J. Wegner (1914-2007) is considered one of the most creative, innovative, and prolific designers of all times, renowned for his precision, great insight into craftsmanship and uncompromising approach to design. Wegner designed nearly 500 chairs in his lifetime and was often referred to as the master of the chair.

Elegant and relaxed upholstery enhances a straightforward expression in Hans J. Wegner’s CH293 Sofa. Designed in 1962 as part of the wider CH290 Series, the CH293 Sofa demonstrates a distinctive Wegner identity, combining rigorous and stringent carpentry details with soft and casual upholstery. The three-seater sofa features three separate seat and back cushions supported in an elegant hand-finished FSC™-certified solid oak frame. Wegner made a conscious decision not to hide the essential details of the frame, which are accentuated by relaxed upholstery. A visible slatted backrest, dynamically angled rear legs, and wide armrests demonstrate familiar Weger hallmarks, while upholstered cushions in removable fabric or leather lend effortless versatility to this mid-century modern design.
