The LM92C Metropolitan Chair by Ejner Larsen and Aksel Bender Madsen, earned its name at the 1960 exhibition, ‘The Arts of Denmark’ at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Ejner Larsen and Aksel Bender Madsen, trained as furniture upholsterer and cabinetmaker, respectively, met while studying under leading Danish designer Kaare Klint at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. The duo designed around 300 works together, including the iconic Metropolitan Chair. While the chair was their favorite object, they also made other pieces from bedroom suites to bookshelves. The results were always simple and timeless, and their pieces have been exhibited in Denmark and internationally.

The Metropolitan Chair is distinguished by a back and armrest crafted from a single piece of veneer, resulting in excellent seating comfort for a variety of functions – the Metropolitan Chair can be used as a conference, dining or desk chair.
