Carl Hansen & Søn caught up with Enrico Fratesi and Stine Gam, the co-founders of GamFratesi , who served as the interior and spatial design architects for a newly opened hotel in Warsaw. PURO Warszawa Stare Miasto is conceived as "a Scandinavian home in the heart of the city," blending refined Nordic minimalism with the energy of its historic urban setting.


We have always had a deep love for Danish classics and have felt strongly connected to that tradition. For us, they have been like books fundamental references that allowed us to develop and mature our own design process over time.

One of our favorite designers is certainly Hans J. Wegner, for his work and for the honesty with which he approached wood, creating a series of chairs that we believe are among the most distinctive in the history of design. For this reason, being able to include Carl Hansen & Søn pieces and to introduce them to an audience that may be less familiar with them outside Denmark was very meaningful for us.

For us, it was important to bring a piece of Denmark into the hotel — to create a place that tells a story of quality, materiality, and tradition. For this reason, classical design — including some of the pieces we selected from Carl Hansen & Søn — could not be missing, as they were essential to fully express and complete that narrative.

These pieces perfectly balance our contemporary design approach with the depth of Danish design tradition. They bring great quality to the space, and each chair tells a story. PURO Warszawa Stare Miasto is made of many stories, and for this reason it felt important for us to integrate them into the project.
