The KK66870 Coffee Table was designed in 1930 by Kaare Klint. As one of his more decorative designs, this modern round coffee table in solid wood features an elegant, raised band that wraps around the tabletop with a functional shelf below, supported by slightly angled legs.
Architect Kaare Klint (1888–1954) was a beacon of Danish design and, with his unique understanding of proportions, he laid the groundwork for the Danish Modern concept. Throughout his working life, in which he created a series of iconic design-led products, he insisted on clear, logical design and a distinctive style, using exquisite materials and superb workmanship.
A Design to Inspire the Danish Modern Era
The circular KK66870 Coffee Table bears all the hallmarks of Kaare Klint’s approach to furniture design. Designed in 1930, the table is an elegant example of Klint’s meticulous attention to the study of ergonomics, putting functionality and ease of use ahead of decoration. The result is a timeless, minimalist table suitable for modern interiors. A precursor to modernism, this solid wood table has a refined expression. Carl Hansen & Søn’s skilled craftsmen continue Klint’s devotion to traditional carpentry that can only be achieved by hand. Subtle details include a band that wraps around the surface and angled legs with vertical grooves which stop at the shelf and continue under the tabletop. The KK44860 Side Table is available as square option in this series of tables.
