Carl Hansen & Søn update its lighting collection with the RF200 Table Lamp, designed by Rikke Frost. The new design complements existing pieces while adding a modern touch to the collection thanks to its distinctive combination of warm wood, metal and mood-enhancing ambience.
Rikke Frost (b.1973) is recognised for her profound knowledge of materials and for how she combines different craft traditions. This is clearly reflected in her portfolio of designs, where contemporary and traditional design axioms and materials converge in organically styled furniture and lighting. In addition to her distinctive expression, often featuring circular shapes, Frost is keenly focused on creating long-lasting, functional designs that put people first.
Nature at play
With its artful look inspired by the trunk and crown of a tree, the RF200 Table Lamp emits atmospheric light from its playful shade. Perfectly balancing warm wood and cool metal, the versatile design can be configured in no less than nine different ways, allowing you to tailor its expression to any interior. Carefully crafted with a base of FSC™-certified solid wood (FSC C1355991) detailed with polished brass, two vaulted metal reflectors project soft, glare-free light downwards through the leaf-like shades. Perfectly complementing Carl Hansen & Søn’s existing collection of lighting designs, the RF200 is at once classic and contemporary. Rikke Frost has allowed the materials to play a leading role in the simple, organic design of the Petal Lamp, where her overarching goal was to strike a balance. This is why she made the lamp's base in wood with visible grains that exude natural, warm radiance, while the light reflectors are made of metal with a cooler but still soft expression. As a result, the materials finely complement one another, while the lamp radiates expressive, glare-free light.
