Vilhelm Lauritzen created the Vega Chair in 1956 when he built the modernist masterpiece Vega in Copenhagen. The stackable chair, which has previously only been found in Vega's concert halls, is now available to a wider audience for the first time.

Vilhelm Lauritzen (1894–1984) was one of Denmark's most influential architects of his time and helped pave the way for Danish modernism with works that stand as enduring examples of what was then a new and revolutionary style of architecture, where form follows function. Throughout his career, Lauritzen maintained the approach that architecture should be applied art for everyone – not just for the privileged few.

      The Sound of Design

Previously only found in the historic concert halls of the Copenhagen music venue, Vega, the VLA26 Vega Chair is now put into production at Carl Hansen & Søn, in partnership with Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects. Designed in the 1950s, the reissued chair is a modernist masterpiece. Profiling Vilhelm Lauritzen’s signature aesthetic, the functionalist design appears effortlessly simple yet is imbued with character. Well-proportioned for comfort, its back curves to embrace the sitter. Expertly crafted in wood and steel, optional upholstery on the seat and back up the comfort level while elegant wooden feet lend an artisanal feel to the stackable design.
