The HK20 Bubi Lamp was designed by Henning Koppel in 1972. The lamp clearly reflects Koppel’s sculptural mode of expression with its curvy, drop-like shape comprising a lampshade of opal acrylic and a chrome- or brass plated top and socket. HK20 Bubi Lamp offers glare-free light to illuminate small-scale areas and can hang from the ceiling, singularly or arranged in a collective formation. View downloads for more product details.
The Danish sculptor and designer Henning Koppel (1918–1981) is best known for his work with silverware, but he had a wide repertoire embracing many other materials such as porcelain, granite, watercolour, steel and glass. With a refined sense of proportion and an ability to create timeless works, he received numerous international awards and is today considered one of the most important Danish designers of all time.
Designed by Danish sculptor Henning Koppel in 1972, the HK20 Bubi Lamp is a rare example of his work within lighting design. Known for his artistic and form‑focused approach, Koppel found inspiration for its distinctive, curved shape in his grandchild’s summer hat. Although best known for his silverware, Koppel had a remarkable ability to excel across a wide range of disciplines. Working with jewellery, tableware, furniture and more, he demonstrated a deep understanding of how to harness each material’s unique qualities to achieve a precise sense of balance and proportion. His most celebrated silver pieces carry a timeless expression that continues to resonate in modern homes—an enduring quality reflected in the HK20 Bubi Lamp and its relaxed versatility. This sculptural, organically shaped lamp combines a chrome‑ or brass‑plated steel top and socket with opal acrylic, creating a soft, glare‑free ambient light ideal for smaller spaces. The HK20 Bubi Lamp can be suspended individually, arranged in a striking chandelier formation, or placed directly on a shelf.
